Opening Day – David Silvestre Memorial
Friday, June 5th, 2026 ~ Maryland Polo Club opened their 40th season with the David Silvestre Memorial Match! Club Manager, Parker Pearce, spent months creating pristine fields, gathering sponsors, and developing spectator viewing. Our sidelines were sold out and we debuted our VIP tented section on “The Hill.” Families also scattered picnic blankets under the trees on “The Hill” and enjoyed the new viewing venue. We had an exciting round-robin format between TTR Sotheby’s Travelstead Realty, Maryland Polo Club Red, and Maryland Polo Club Yellow. TTR Sotheby’s came out victorious.
Maryland Polo Club Yellow’s ,Tori Picha, won the “Horsemanship” award. David was known for is exceptional horsemanship and care of PJ Orthwein’s ponies. It was truly an honor for Tori to receive this recognition in memory of David.
PJ Orthwein’s pony “Buckwheat” was awarded the “Best Playing Pony” of the game.
